Yes I wonder the same, many of my older spots have been never spotted later these years later... To add on your speculations; could be also stowed at their own place to resell it later for more value 🤷♂️

Mine are not as interesting sadly 😅 but I appreciate it! I have wonderful memories about my 2010s in southern France as I was there almost every summer from 2011 to 2018, sadly didn’t spot at the time as I was a kid but I have vivid memories of the wonderful cars of the time driving around.
